best pc laptops for music
Looking for the best PC laptop computers for music production and recording in 2018 for your DAW home recording studio?

Out of all the components in the home recording studio, your PC music laptop computer is one of the most import choices you'll have to make!

You have two formats of computers to choose from, PC or Mac.  In this article I am going to focus on the PC music laptop computer.

A minimum of a 2.5GHZ Quad Core computer is highly recommended.  Dual cores just don't have enough speed compared to a quad core.  A 250GB hard drive is sufficient because you only run the DAW software on the main drive, and you song files, virtual instrument, etc. are either on additional drives or on external drives.  I use external drives because you can easily disconnect them and put them in a safe place when you leave the house.

Learning And Calibrating Your Speakers For Your DAW In Audio Mastering

3 calibrate speakers audio mastering daw

Learning and calibrating your speakers for your DAW in audio mastering is a very important step in the audio mastering process.  When I first start out with NEW speakers (though I never change them now), I listen to my favorite hit songs in every genre and style.  Songs that I know from my years of experience have X amount of bass, X amount of brightness, etc.  I know how these songs are "supposed" to sound.

Best Room Size For Audio Mastering DAW Home Recording Studio

6 best room size for audio mastering

So, what is the best room size for audio mastering in your DAW home recording studio?  Technically, you can properly mix or master in any room size.  But, I believe a smaller room is better than a very large one for someone who's just starting out. And when I say smaller I mean closer to 12'x15' than to 20'x30'.  I've mixed and mastered songs for a number of years in a 20'x30' room.  It took me a few days to get used to it, but after that I could do it.
